We’re delighted to announce our next guest artist joining us at Culford Studios on Thursday 9th of April: Skye Corewijn, South African potter and founder of klei, a ceramics shop and gallery in Hackney.

Skye works primarily on the wheel in stoneware and terracotta. After first taking up ceramics as an unassuming pastime in 2013, it gradually came to occupy more and more of her life. Somewhat unexpectedly, she found herself working full-time as a potter, shop owner, and teacher. Rooted in an interest in daily rituals and the quiet presence of handmade objects, her work explores the balance between utility and individuality. Her work is simple and tactile, designed for everyday use, with occasional alterations, carving, and oxide brushwork adding subtle variation.
