IMPROVERS CERAMIC COURSE

CONCEPT, DEVELOP, REFINE

An eight-week course aimed to develop your existing skills in ceramic studio practice. (8 X 2.5 hr sessions)

CLASS FLEXIBILITY:

Occasionally life and work can be unprintable and chaotic and committing to an 8 week course can be problematic - which is why we offer you class flexibility.

This eight-week course is perfect if you have done a beginners throwing course or have some throwing experience. We will cover the fundamentals while adding new skills you may have missed. The aim is to build your skills and confidence to allow you to refine your making, express yourself, and have some fun with it.

 

While each class will cover new skills you can develop your own projects. You will get lots of encouragement, stimulation and assistance to achieve your goals and by the end of the course you will be able to apply appropriate hand building, throwing and finishing techniques to develop your ceramic studio practice.

4 WEEKS OF WHEEL SKILLS 

Building on basic skills you will learn and develop core skills of working with clay and throwing.

​

Each week we will learn key skill such as wedging and turning.

 

As group and undertake build challenges which will result in work you can refine with hand building and glazing.

2 WEEKS OF HAND BUILDING SKILLS

Hand building is a fantastic way of working with clay and unlocks a new world of possibilities.

 

 We will cover core areas such as joining forms together and making handles.

For many this is the favoured way to build and sculpt with clay

​

2 WEEKS OF
GLAZING

As you my now know Glazing is more complex than you might have first thought - its a science.

​

you will learn our glaze characteristics and different application techniques and apply them to your made pieces. â€‹
