BEGINNERS INTRODUCTORY WORKSHOP

A 2.5 hour workshop covering hand-building techniques of pinching, coiling and slabbing.

What’s included? 
 
Expert tuition, all the materials (clay, decorating slips, transparent glaze) and two firings (bisc and glaze).
 
What to expect? 
 
This beginners introductory workshop will enable you to understand the properties and possibilities with regards to the three fundamental hand-building techniques of coiling, slab building and pinching. 
 
The workshop will start off with a demonstration of hand-building techniques. After which you will create your unique piece(s) and then decorate their surfaces with coloured decorating slips provided. You can make something sculptural or functional and it’s entirely up to your interest. As an outcome, 2-3 pieces of your work will be glazed, fired and ready to collect within 3-4 weeks. 
 
Where? 
 
The class will be held on the upper floor of Culford Studios, a spacious room to maintain social distancing.

What to bring?

Please bring a mask and an apron or wear messy clothes. 

When to arrive?

The course times are either 10.30 - 1pm or 6.30 - 9pm. Please arrive 10 minutes before the class is due to start.

What about covid-19?

Our commitment:
- Workstations are socially distanced
- All chairs, workstations and studio will be disinfected before and after use 
- We will continue to review and reserve the right to reschedule any sessions as this fluid situation develops – in line with best advice from Health Advisors
 
Your commitment:
- You must bring your own face mask or wear one provided, and you must wear it at all times 
- Please use hand sanitiser provided on arrival
- Please avoid touching anything in the studio that is not related to your classwork
- Please only come to the studio if you are not a risk to others – or at risk yourself 
- Do not visit if you have symptoms – stay at home





* In order to run this workshop we need a minimum of 6 participants. If the workshop is cancelled you will be offered the option to transfer the booking to an alternative available workshop.
