BEGINNERS CERAMIC COURSE

A four week course covering hand-building techniques and glazing.

What’s included? 
 
Expert tuition and equipment. Work that is fired brings an additional cost of £4.00 per kg.
 
What to expect? 

This beginners ceramic course will enable you to understand the properties and possibilities with regards to ceramics.

Week one: You will be able to try out a variety of hand-building techniques and start making objects.

Week two: You will be able to expand on things you learnt in week one. Having been shown surface decorating techniques such as using sprigs, scraffito and slip trailing you will be able to bring colour and texture to your work.

Week three: You will continue making your pieces.

Week four: Introduction to glazes. You will be able to try out a variety of decorating/glaze techniques on your now bisc fired objects using glaze and underglaze. Your object(s) will be fired and able to be collected within 3 - 4 weeks.

Where? 

The class will be held on the upper floor of Culford Studio, a spacious room to maintain social distancing.

What to bring?

Please bring a mask and an apron or wear messy clothes. 

When to arrive?

The course times are 6.30 - 9pm. Please arrive 10 minutes before the class is due to start.

Our commitment:
- Workstations are socially distanced
- All chairs, workstations and studio will be disinfected before and after use 
- We will continue to review and reserve the right to reschedule any sessions as this fluid situation develops – in line with best advice from Health Advisors

Your commitment:
- You must bring your own face mask or wear one provided, and you must wear it at all times 
- Please use hand sanitiser provided on arrival
- Please avoid touching anything in the studio that is not related to your classwork
- Please only come to the studio if you are not a risk to others – or at risk yourself 
- Do not visit if you have symptoms – stay at home

Missing Lessons:
Our courses are structured in  progressing steps so it is necessary that you are sure you can attend all the course dates before you book. It isn't possible to reschedule a missed lesson to another date as we do not have spare places on any of our courses.




* In order to run this workshop we need a minimum of 6 participants. If the workshop is cancelled you will be offered the option to transfer the booking to an alternative available workshop.
